NCCA Consultations

Welcome to the NCCA's consultation section of the website. You have taken the first step in making your opinion heard on what will be taught, learned and assessed in all settings from early childhood to primary to junior cycle and senior cycle of post-primary.

We invite you to participate in any of the consultations below, whether you are a learner, a third-level student, a parent, a teacher, a policy-maker, an educationalist, a principal, an interested member of the public or a representative of an organisation—you get the idea, everyone can have their say! Simply click on whichever consultation/s you are interested in below and submit your views.

Keep an eye on this page over the coming months as there are many more consultations in the pipeline. We will also be gathering views from our NCCA committees and from our work with schools. Re-presenting the Primary School Curriculum and responding to curriculum overload The NCCA is working with teachers to explore different formats for re-presenting curriculum subjects in order to make the content of the curriculum books more accessible and user-friendly. Take a look at the re-presented subjects and let us know what you think by responding to our survey before June 14th
Junior cycle A period of consultation on the development of junior cycle education is now underway. Simply click on this link, www.ncca.ie/juniorcycledevelopments, and watch a brief multimedia presentation, read the paper Innovation and Identity: Ideas for a new Junior Cycle, watch short vox pops on what other schools had to say and share your ideas with us by completing a short questionnaire or simply adding a blog comment. Get involved in the consultation through sharing your views through a short questionnaire or by blogging.
Senior Cycle We would like to hear from you about how changes to curriculum and assessment can make a real difference for senior cycle students and their teachers. Browse through the senior cycle consultation pages to learn more about all of the consultations taking place at senior cycle and have your views heard. Read our consultation leaflet Towards Learning: An overview of Senior Cycle Education. This overview looks at senior cycle as it is at the moment and points us towards where we might see it going in the future. It also gives some background to the values, vision and principles that have shaped the development and revision of syllabuses that you will see over the coming months.
