How Aistear was developed: Consultation

Aistear: the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework was developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) in partnership with the early childhood sector in Ireland and abroad.
See Towards a Framework for Early Learning: A Consultative Document (2004) (PDF, 2.51MB) which the NCCA used to consult with practitioners, parents, researchers, those involved in training and education, and policy-makers on the development of the Framework.
Read the findings from the consultation in Towards a Framework for Early Learning: Final Consultation Report (2005) (PDF, 265 KB). These findings informed the development of Aistear.
The NCCA then established the Early Childhood Committee to continue to support the development of the Framework. This committee included representatives from the early childhood sector and relevant agencies and government departments. Take a look at Aistear: Partnership in Action (PDF, 117 KB) for more information on how Aistear was developed in partnership with the early childhood sector.
