Language in the Primary School Curriculum

The NCCA is working to address the curriculum and assessment issues concerning children's language development that were highlighted in curriculum review and other national and international evaluations and assessments.

The approach to change is a phased one. The NCCA is currently inviting tenders for research on oral language, literacy and an integrated language curriculum., and initial work from NCCA's engagement with schools on emergent literacy will be available towards the end of 2011. Keep an eye on www.ncca.ie/primary to keep up to date on developments.
