Well-Being and Post-Primary Schooling

Well-Being and Post-Primary Schooling; A review of the literature and research

The NCCA wanted to gather research evidence on the relationship between curriculum and assessment change as well as developments in school and beyond-school cultures, and the well-being of young people in post-primary schools. It commissioned a Dr. Maeve O’ Brien to carry out a comprehensive review of the area. Dr. O Brien, with the Human Development team in St Patrick’s, looked at student well-being from a number of perspectives, and used those analyses to interrogate some school policies and processes. The report is important for all interested in the challenge of holistic education and the role of the school in contributing to personal and societal well-being.
